What to Do With Kids Halloween Week (A Simple Plan)

Halloween week is one of those weeks that can go one of two ways: full chaos or full magic.

The difference is usually just having a loose plan. Here's a simple day-by-day breakdown for keeping kids ages 6–10 entertained from Monday to trick-or-treat.

The Day-by-Day Plan

Monday: Start the coloring pages

Pull out a printable Halloween activity pack and let kids pick their first page. It becomes the anchor for the whole week, something to return to every afternoon.

Tuesday: Make Halloween bookmarks or cards.

Simple craft. Fold paper, draw a pumpkin or ghost, done. Little ones can make one for a teacher or grandparent.

Wednesday: Watch the Halloween movie

Mid-week movie night. Casper, Hocus Pocus, It's the Great Pumpkin. Low effort, high reward.

Thursday: Decorate the pumpkin

If you haven't carved yet, Thursday is the sweet spot — close enough to Halloween that it still looks good Friday night.

Friday: Costume dry run + activity time

Let them try on the costume before the big day. Do another activity page while they're in character. Chaos will occur. That's the point.

Saturday: Trick-or-treat

You've survived the week.

Go collect the candy.
